FLORIDA BASICS
Simple ways to enjoy a Florida beach day while respecting wildlife, dunes, nesting areas, and the people around you.
Guide purpose:
To make beach days easier, cleaner, and more respectful for everyone sharing the shore.
A good beach day starts before you reach the sand. A little prep makes it easier to enjoy the water, share the shore respectfully, and avoid habits that stress wildlife or other visitors.
Florida beaches are shared space. Shorebirds, sea turtles, and other coastal wildlife depend on quiet, undisturbed areas more than many visitors realize.

Keep dogs leashed where required, avoid chasing wildlife for photos, and never feed animals on the beach. Food scraps attract predators and can disrupt natural behavior.
What you bring ashore matters. Loose items, plastic rings, and lightweight gear are easily carried off by wind or tide.

Leaving the beach better does not require a major cleanup project. It can be as simple as taking your trash, filling in small holes, and giving dunes and marked areas a wide berth.
Small choices can make a beach day better for everyone who shares the shore.
